Okay, now for the most important question I've ever posted on this forum: can anyone recommend some good bakeries? One of my favorite things on a trip is hitting the local pastry shops and sampling some yummy baked goods. I'd be grateful for recommendations in any of the following cities:
Oxford
Stratford-upon-Avon
Bath
London
Extra points for anything chocolate. :-)
This danish bakery has locations throughout London
Gail’s Bakery
Ottolenghi

Personally I like the Chocolate Room in Selfridges.
In London
- The Swedish cardamom buns and cinnamon buns at Fabrique are incredible (I carried 6 cardamom buns on the plane home with me). Their bread also looked great, but I didn’t get a chance to try any.

Bertinet in Bath is well regarded. They have expanded their brand and sell bread in supermarkets across the country but they have a shop in Bath still.
Hufflins. A Cotswold company (Burford) originally but have expanded.

At any Huffkins, be very sure to check out the Beesting. Yum. In fact everything of theirs is yum.
Another vote for Fabrique, although for me it's the vanilla or cinnamon buns that I love
Borough Market in London usually has a few bakeries with stalls set up.
I've always enjoyed Bread Ahead and their stall at Borough Market -- https://www.breadahead.com/
As well as Comptoir Gourmand -- https://www.comptoirgourmand.co.uk/
