What is the checked bag situation at Heathrow now? Anyone travel there this week? We are arriving at Terminal 3 from JFKon June 27. Debating whether it’s worth cramming everything into carryons?

I can only tell you about our return journey through Heathrow. We left Tuesday, June 21, from Terminal 3, and checked luggage. When we arrived in Detroit, we were informed by Delta via email that our baggage was delayed and they posted 10,000 points to our account. However, our luggage made it without problems. I think Terminal 3 is not having so many issues as some of the other terminals that do more short-European flights. We did carry on luggage going and checked luggage on our return. You don't want to have lost luggage at the beginning of a journey for sure.

The big pile was at T2 last Friday when in effect nothing was moving through the baggage system for several hours because of a major failure. This caused such a pile up that flights were reduced slightly on Monday in order that bags hanging around could be dispatched. This is not a regular problem from staff shortages etc, although bag delivery is slower in general because of this.

I landed at LHR terminal 3 this morning. I had only carry on luggage but did walk through baggage claim to exit. All seemed normal in baggage claim.
