We're going to be ending our trip to England with four days in London. We'd like to return the rental car at Heathrow and take public transportation into London and back to the airport at the end of the four days. There is bag storage at Heathrow and we're thinking of leaving most of our luggage to make the travel easier. Would appreciate hearing about any experience you've had using the service. Losing most of our baggage just before the flight home would be an unpleasant end to our vacation.
You probably won't get much in the way of actual experience, due to the steep price. I cant imagine they be loosing stuff and still be in business.
I've used left-luggage all over Europe and have never had a problem. Heathrow has a very organized system and there really is no risk of your luggage being lost.
I use it as well, but never in London probably. And never for days and days. Fifty bucks per suitcase would take me to my knees. What's a cab cost - - seventy-five dollars maybe?
We encourage you to pack as light as possible; see Rick's packing advice. If you have one carry-on sized suitcase per person, you can handle these on the train or subway into London. If you have added a bag of souvenirs by the end of your trip, you can still make it work.
We left our extra bag at Heathrow when we had an overnight before our next flight. No problems, but I don't remember the cost. It worked for us.

It looks like £27 for 72 hours, and £9 for each 24 hours after that.

Thanks, Anita, it's helpful to know you have had a good experience. I think Left Luggage will be about $40 US. That's cheaper than a cab and avoids driving into London.
Regarding the advice to travel light - I think it will be light to have a big suitcase and two carry-on sized bags for a 17 day trip, especially when the trip includes attending a wedding. PS - My husband rebels at the thought of doing laundry during vacation :-)
