B&B near Highclere Castle; driving time from the caste to Windsor

Greetings all,

We plan to visit Highclere Castle in May, 2017, hopefully taking the morning tour. We will have a rental car.
Can anyone recommend a nice B&B near the castle for the night before the tour?

After the tour we plan to drive to Windsor and spend a couple of nights. Google says the drive takes about an hour, but is this realistic? Is the travel time or route affected by rush hour traffic? If it really is only an hour, would a realistic option be to spend the night in Windsor and drive to the castle for the morning tour?

Many thanks,

John

We loved the Hare & Hounds in Newbury (Speen). It's located right on the A4, near the roundabout with A34 (south of the M4). I think it's about 10-15 min from Highclere Castle.
It is not the most luxurious but clean and affordable, with good food served in the restaurant, and very helpful staff.
