Nigel,
In this trial just for those 4 ex London routes.
I only heard about this at lunchtime from a 2 day old press release, posted on facebook.
It wasn't on the Avanti website yesterday when I looked for something else, but is now so is very hot news.
The hope expressed in the press release is to expand the destinations over time. It's designed to get modal switchers on to their trains.
I'm not sure how big the savings really are against normal advance fares.
Oh there are no railcard discounts on these fares either.

Those fares are a saving but that much of one if you have a railcard. We’re off to London from Preston tomorrow and paying an Advance fare of £26.40, only booked a couple of days ago.
In theory a superfare could be useful for us, who travel regularly down to London, but at that level of saving I can’t see us bothering with it too much. For those who can’t use a railcard though I can see it might be popular.

As of 1 August superfares will also be available to Stafford, Stoke on Trent, Crewe, Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Stockport, Runcorn, Wigan North Western, Warrington Bank Quay and Lancaster.
As bookings can be made for between 7 and 21 days before travel, and opened on 25 July.

Also, by using Seat Frog passengers between Liverpool Lime Street and Euston can now bid for Standard Premium upgrades for £18- a £7 saving on the normal fare.
