Attending Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night in Lewes

I am planning to visit England in early November in order to attend Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night in Lewes. There isn't a lot of information in America about this so I am hoping that folks who have attended the celebration will answer my questions

  1. Do I need to purchase a ticket in advance to attend bonfire society's events (parade, bonfire) in advance or can I purchase a ticket when I arrive in Lewes on the 5th? If I am required to purchase a ticket in advance how can this transaction be handled? By credit card? By PayPal? Can I send cash by mail because it is easy to obtain British banknotes at a local bank in Seattle? Shall I assume that sending a personal check written on a Bank of America account is not practical?

  2. Do visitors like me usually stay with one society throughout the evening or do they participate in the activities of several societies throughout the night? Are the separate celebrations located in sites to far to walk from one celebration to another?

  3. Approximately what time does the celebration/celebrations end? I must decide whether to keep my reservation at the New Market Inn if the celebration extends in the AM hours after the last train has passed through Lewes, or to cancel my reservation in advance and take a train at approximately 2300 hours or 2330 hours to Brighton where I will catch a train to London.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I am looking forward to see Guy go up in flames in Lewes on the 5th.

Sincerely,

Geor(ge)
