Arriving in London on a Bank Holiday, anything special I should know?

Hello dear UK forum members. I will be arriving at LHR on Monday, May 2nd. I know this is a bank holiday and I just wanted to touch base to see if there is anything I should know that would impact my planning. At this point, the plans include going into London, checking in at my VRBO, and taking some walks in the fresh air around the area. I don't really plan to see any "attractions" this day.

Thanks for all that you do answering questions on this forum. It is much appreciated.

Bigger crowds out and about as schools will be closed. Banks closed. If you need pounds £’s use a bank ATM. Some restaurants closed. Some transport affected. Check Tfl website.

Enjoy your walk letting your senses adapt to London environs. Remember ALWAYS cross with the lights. It will take time for your brain to recognize traffic flow is the opposite to what you know.

Great city. Enjoy it.

There maybe some transport closures if work is being undertaken over the long weekend - check the TFL website nearer the time.

In central London, not much is likely to be closed and places maybe busier with people making the most of the extra day off. There will be closures in small rural places, but this won’t affect you.

If the weather is nice, everyone will be outdoors. I’d recommend finding whatever park is nearest your VRBO and checking that out as there will be a real sense of the city coming alive.
