I want to go on Spring Break with my 2 teens to England. What are thoughts of those been before. We really want to explore the Cotswalds and outter parts of England. Will 1 week seem too rushed to visit a few places outside London? We have never been, but would love to see some of England!! Thanks
You could spend 1 week in London and only see a small part of it but 1 or 2 days exploring other areas would work (your holiday, your choice), BTW it's the Cotswolds.
There is a lot to see and do in London/Greater London that a week could easily be not enough time. That said, a day trip to Cambridge and/or Oxford would be a nice excursion to a relatively speaking less urban environment. I enjoyed a day trip to Oxford which feels like an Inspector Morse/Lewis movie set.

a few years ago I got a book at my library
" 10 day trips out of London" (don't remember the exact title)
but it was perfect.
Gave locations
how to get there on trains, busses, etc.
prices
I would recommend it.
One of my favorites was a day trip by train to Leeds to visit Leeds Castle.
"One of my favorites was a day trip by train to Leeds to visit Leeds Castle."
Just to be clear, Leeds Castle is near Leeds village in Kent not the city of Leeds in the north of England.
When were you contemplating in April?
April means Easter holidays from schools in the middle of the month for 2/3 weeks depending on the school, so places will be busier and more expensive. Shops etc are not open on Easter Sunday. The long Easter weekend means that the rail companies undertake bigger engineering projects, so often many rail lines are closed and have bus replacement service, which should be avoided. Travel should be easier on the other April weekends.
Some of the spring bulbs should be out, but it's a bit early for the best of gardens in the Cotswolds. These are best explored in a car, particularly off season. It's not an area I would wanted to have visited when I was a teenager!
There is plenty to keep you occupied for much more than a week just by basing yourselves in London. There are also some easy day trips, such as Oxford or Windsor or Canterbury or Bath or York (these latter 2 are long days from London), Greenwich or Hampton Court. You can't cover much of the highlights of London in less than 4 full days there.
Some indication of what you want to see/ your interests will assist in providing better suggestions.
Thank you so much for all of your suggestions. We might not have our home base as London the whole time. We might venture to Kent or Bath for a night or two?? Thanks for the info about the Easter weekend. Fortunately we will be there the 1st week in April and Easter this year is April 17. I think we're going to jump on it and do this!! Can't wait. Thanks!!
Are your teens of the male or female variety? If the female variety, have they discovered Jane Austen yet? If yes... then do spend 2 nights in Bath. I know many people make this a day trip but it is just an enchanting city to me...love the Georgian architecture, many streets and sights mentioned by Jane and Roman ruins to boot!
