Apartment Type Rental for Family of 5 in London

My family (myself, husband, adult son and parents) are planning a weeklong trip to London in late September. My parents are in reasonable health but a lot of stairs can be an issue, so I am hoping to find something all on one level (at least once you get into the flat) or with one bedroom/bath on the same floor as the living area (my husband and I could stay upstairs with no problem). Not planning to rent a car, so we would need easy access to the Tube station. Am I dreaming to find something like that? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think if you go to VRBO.com or to AirB&B, you will discover literally dozens of places to stay. The business of finding an apartment is highly subjective, so I suggest that you put your heads together to discover and book the property that will serve you all best.

You might want to check out some University accommodations. We never used them, but I have heard good things about the London School of Economics. They rent spar dorm rooms and some apartments to tourists. They very from single rooms with a shared bathroom down the hall to 2 or 3 bedroom apartments with kitchen facilities and occasionally access to 'catered' breakfasts. Some have elevators, others do not. They have locations all over central London and most if not all are near Tube stations or good bus stops. Check out their website [https://www.lsevacations.co.uk/Home.aspx][1]

The other 'company' I'd suggest is Citadines Here is their website [https://www.citadines.com/en/united-kingdom/london/citadines-holborn-covent-garden-london/index.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuuDentXA3gIVyp-zCh1nLwnBEAAYASAAEgL9z_D_BwE][2]
They are know as 'apart-hotels' . They have multiple locations in London- all very central. We stayed at the Holborn/Covent Garden location one time when we took our kids. They have small apartments (studio, 1 and 2 bedrooms, I think), with simple kitchens, a living room (often with a full out bed) and bathroom. You don't get maid service, but for a week's stay you don't really need it. They sometimes have a breakfast room ,but it usually costs extra.

My favorite source for London apartments (we have rented from them 3 out of 4 trips to London) is www.londonconnection.com. They are terrific at customer service and very responsive. Take a look at what they have for your dates then reach out with questions as to lift, stairs, etc., if it is not clear.

Apologies if you have already thought about this, but if your parents have problems with stairs, they may find many Tube stations to be a challenge.

Seconding Suz’s point. My mother doesn’t do well walking very far, so we found using the buses in London worked much better for her. We got caught in traffic sometimes, of course, but the pace was fine with that crowd.
