Will be spending 2 quick nights in London in June--a stopover on our way to Rome. I haven't been to London in 20 years so really no idea where we should stay and thought I would start here. We'd like to keep it to about $500 USD for the 2 nights and since we have such a short time, somewhere relatively central to sites like Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace would be preferable. Any of you experts have suggestions?
I have favorites, but they won’t qualify as hidden gems. Premier Inn County Hall or Premier Inn Waterloo would be my suggestions.
Thank you Carol! Checking those out now.
Check out the Royal Horseguards Hotel.

The Victoria location is in between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. The Covent Garden location isn't that far away.
I will second Carol's rec for Premier Inns. They are very comfortable, reasonably priced, conveniently located and always very clean. The beds are also very comfy, which I really like. :-) I'm spending 5 nights at the Premier Inn County Hall in mid-March and love the location. It's a quick walk over the bridge to get to the Westminster area.
