Another Oyster Card and Tipping Question

Hi, I have two questions, the first is about the Oyster Card. My family and I plan to be in London for 4 days, and most of our time will be within Zones 1 & 2. However, when we leave from Heathrow to London, do I buy a Tube ticket for that trip and then when we get to London, buy an Oyster Card for zones 1& 2 or do I buy the Oyster Card at Heathrow? Also, does the Card work the same way for children?

My second question has to do with tipping. I’ve read both here and in RS books that tipping is not the norm, and that if you do tip, it’s usually 1 or 2 pounds up. Is this also how you would tip for a Bus Tour? We plan on taking an Evan and Evans tour and I wasn’t sure about the tipping process. Thank you.

If you buy the Oyster Card at Heathrow, they can load on a 7-day pass (31.40 pounds per adult for zones 1 & 2) and sell you the necessary additional ticket to cover the outer zones. Kids in age ranges 11-15, 16-17, or 18-25 who set up a photocard can get a discounted kid's 7-day pass on Oyster. Kids up to age 10 travel free with an adult on the Bus, Tram, Tube, DLR and London Overground services, no card needed, but go through the manual entry gate instead of the turnstile in the Tube station.

I would not tip for a bus tour, unless you felt it was quite special.
