I just received an email from National Rail regarding travel over the next few days Laing up to the funeral on 19 September. Basically, I you are Eli going by Tran ou are advised to be patient and allow extra Tim to ach your desnation.
“The rail industry is working hard to ensure that th public can travel safely to pay third respects to Her Majesty the Queen during the official mourning period and on the day of the funeral. If you are travelling to one of the ceremonial events, please be aware that services and stations are likely to be extremely busy during the official mourning period, so make sure you allow extra time for your journey to get you to, and home from, where you are travelling.
“Short notice closures of mainline and London Underground stations may become necessary to manage crowds and keep everyone safe. If this does happen, it will be communicated through all available channels at the earliest opportunity, as necessary.
“Please check the latest travel information on www.nationalrail.co.uk and www.tfl.gov.uk before and during your journey.”
We have tickets to the Lake Distict on September 16 which we are not going to use because our accommodations in the Lake District were canceled by the provider for lack of staff. I bought non-refundable Advance tickets and thought we would just lose the money I paid. But 2 days ago I was advised by email from Avanti West Coat that the schedule for that day has been reduced, and if we do not wish to travel on the amended schedule, we can cancel for a refund. So I just submitted the form to request that.
Our return journey to London( which we will not make either) is on 19 September, and I have not received anything about that one yet.
Travel in the UK is challenging right now.
