Paris, London, Scotland, Ireland Trip

A number of years ago you folks gave us fabulous advice and recommended a change to my itinerary which I did and we had a fantastic italian trip. I am hoping I can get some recommendations for our next trip to Europe to celebrate our anniversary. So far we plan to go to Paris, London, Scotland and Ireland. We will be spending 4 nights in Paris, 5 nights in England, 6 nights in Scotland and 4 nights in Ireland but are flexible on the number of days in each location.

I'm looking for recommendations on a private tour guide in each location and suggestions on hotels and areas to stay.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Sounds like a great trip. I think if you could give a little bit more information on your interests and budget, it will help people give you suggestions that are more tailored to your needs.

How are you planning on traveling between London and Scotland? Will all 5 of your England nights be in London? What is your top priority or must-see in Scotland? In Ireland? What are your goals?

Carol, Thanks for the advice. We have been to Paris and Ireland before but have never been to London or Scotland. I thought we would probably fly or take the train from London to Scotland or take the train, whichever is cheaper. I don't have a set budget but don't want to break the bank either. I would probably stay within a medium price range. Our plan is to stay in London since we haven't been there before and take day trips but we are open to suggestions. We thought we would use Edinburgh as a home base and do day trips. I don't know a lot about Scotland so am open to suggestions. We will probably rent a car in Scotland and Ireland for the days that we don't have a tour guide. I have been to Ireland multiple times and have family there so I'm all set there. I just don't know whether to do 5 or 6 days in London or in Scotland. Thanks for the help.

Hi from Wisconsin,
For me that is a lot of ground to cover. While 4 nights, then 5 nights, and 6 nights sounds slow and relaxed, remember that a day is mostly lost at each change of location. You might look at your trip by how many full days you have in each location.
The day you move locations is really shot with travel starting after breakfast until you check in and start looking for supper. I think 4 nights translates into three full days. My wife and I enjoy most of out transit days, but we aren't visiting museums or castles on those days.
