An afternoon in london

Arriving noon at Heathrow. Leaving next morning on flight to Greece. Anyone ever take the tube for an afternoon in London? Where did you go and what did you do?

After what I assume is an transatlantic flight, why not enjoy the afternoon at Windsor? A quick bus ride from the airport, there are walks along the river, the castle grounds and Windsor great Park. Lots of fresh air and sunlight (not guaranteed!).

Even if you land at noon it could well be two or three hours before you are out of the airport and checked into your airport hotel so you would not have time for London - even Windsor could be pushing it. Other ideas, Richmond and Twickenham have riverside walks, pubs and restaurants,

Taking the Tube takes a good 45 minutes.

If you bought Heathrow Express tickets NOW you could get to Paddington Station in 15 minutes. From Paddington you could take a 25 minute stroll over to Kensington Palace and Gardens. Then walk back through Hyde Park to enjoy a pint and a nosh at the Mitre Lancaster Gate. From there back to Paddington, board the Heathrow Express and head back to LHR.

Osterley Park is a good option if the weather is fine. Just a few stops on the Piccadilly.
