Unfortunately no. There was a later clarification that for now this only applies to people who received their vaccines in the UK. So, until it changes, those of us who received our vaccines in the U.S., EU, or elsewhere, will still need to quarantine on arrival to the UK. I’ve done it twice...

Thanks for the info. I leave in a few days and was hoping to get out of quarantine jail early.

Boris did suggest that tourism from amber countries might be allowed without quarantine by the end of the summer.

So who enforces this quarantine? What if I don't comply with the self isolation? Can I leave the airport without having to go to a covid hotel? I'm hoping to go to England in September or early October.

Vince, you have to fill out a locator card, and they do check. If you don’t quarantine you will be fined hundreds of £’s. Before you leave you need to get a Covid test that is negative within 72 hours of departure. You also have to book and pay for two Covid test (before you leave) while in quarantine, first one is on day two after arrival and day 8, these two test you cost £200.00-300.00. It would be foolish to go and try not to quarantine.

things are tightening rather than loosening. It was just announced in the last few minutes that UK residents returning from France who until today, if they were double vaccinated in the UK didn't have to quarantine - now they, regardless of UK vaccination, all must quarantine for 10 days.

That came out of left field. I know I don't see it coming, and I keep my ear quite close to the ground.

Don't bet on anything loosening at the moment....

So who decides where I stay while in isolation? Do they have "covid hotels"? See I thought they only did "spot" checks, not every individual. This is just insane, I've had both vaccines and carry my pocket card to show proof. Ugh!

Vince abide by the rules or DONT go.

I’m traveling to London in November and will abide by all established Covid prevention rules. It’s a matter of respect and sensibility.

yes, they do check. No you can't just do what you want. Maybe that works at home - here we take it seriously.

Maybe it will change before your travel... if so, celebrate. If not, cooperate or stay home. We've enjoyed your visits for 10 years or more - so please play by the rules...

You decide where to isolate. The only "covid hotels" are for those who arrive from Red List countries.

I returned from Spain in early June and I received a number of phonecalls from Track and Trace team and also a visit from a contractor performing checks on behalf of the government, it's highly likely that you'll receive a visit.
