Alternative to rail to Windsor 13-14 December?

With a party of 4, I am scheduled to travel from central London to Windsor on 13 December. What alternatives to Southwest Rail do we have? The 702 Green Line bus goes from Victoria to Windsor but it isn't clear from their website if one can book a ticket for a specific time. Or could we take the underground to Heathrow (or somewhere else close to Windsor?) and then a taxi or Uber? With 4 of us should we book a car service for the whole way? We've been to London many times but have never been faced with a strike. Thanks for any advice.

Add this to your options if needed. National Express operates coaches from London Victoria Coach Station to Windsor. The tickets are about £13 each and the journey takes about 2h. They operate almost every hour. We used NE for the first time this summer as two of our journeys fell on or the day after strike days. We set up an account and purchased the tickets online. It was a good experience and I’d do it again if faced with an actual strike. If you do investigate this option, check the stops in Windsor. When I did a search, one stop said Windsor and another said Old Windsor so I’d check their site thoroughly to choose the most convenient stop.

EDIT: when I look at the [i] symbol on the NE booking it says “some coaches are operated by a third party” and at least the specific route I looked at said Reading 702 so I think this one way to book that bus route.

Thanks for the helpful reply. We'll probably go with the bus. The National Express website certainly makes it clearer and easier to purchase an online ticket than the Reading bus site did. I took the 702 to Windsor maybe 10 years ago and if I remember, it did not pick up in the National Express Station, but somewhere close by. Does anyone know if that is true?

There are those that know more about the rail strikes and what companies are affected than I do, but GWR also runs trains to Windsor.

Otherwise, the coach is not a bad option. Coaches in the UK are in general pretty good.
