Hello looking at flights from London to NYC. Seeing mostly Norwegian Air, and Primera Air (and Wow). Anyone have experience with these airlines? Are they Okay to book with?
Mostly Norwegian Air:) British Airways operates out of both Newark and JFK they would be the ones with the most amount of flights. In addition most all the major carriers like Untied, American, Virgin Atlantic, and Delta also have numerous flights.
We have flown 6 times on Norwegian Air Shuttle without incident. Their airplane fleet is the newest in the air and they are taking on more U.S. Cities are more planes become available.
You just have to be aware of their terms and conditions.
They do have a large European connecting flight system to connect to, or you can switch to EasyJet at Gatwick to take you to just about any popular city in Europe cheap.
We don't mind picnicking to save $40.
What search site are you looking at? Surely it's a good guess that two of the world's major cities will have more service than just these relatively new budget carriers. No one site covers everything, but www.matrix.itasoftware has a good selection (not including what you have already seen.) There are some overlaps through shared service.
As long as you're flying Norwegian from JFK, you're good to go. Norwegian from SWF (Stewart Airport) is not the way to go. I don't know the others; I do recommend you make sure they fly out of either JFK or EWR. Also, whichever these discount airlines you choose, make sure you book from their own website and not a 3rd party website.
I fly to London on Delta; I just came home today on Flight 1. :-)
