We will be spending our first day in England in Manchester. Is there a good suggestion for afternoon tea? It would be timed well considering our expected jet lag
Regards,
Dennis and Elinore

I can't remember what day of the week you now arrive but on a Wednesday to Saturday they do Afternoon Tea in the Plaza Cafe at Stockport. That is the cafe in the Art Deco Plaza Super Cinema and Variety Theatre- 10 minutes or so by very frequent train from Piccadilly.
The Theatre itself is just beautiful- a glorious survivor from the glory days of the Movie Industry.
Afternoon Tea is quite early as they close at 3pm- https://stockportplaza.co.uk/plaza-cafe/
I’ve not eaten afternoon tea here… but if you’re looking for that typical grand hotel feel, the tearoom at the Midland Hotel would be a good traditional choice: https://www.themidlandhotel.co.uk/tearoom
The building is very beautiful in that traditional English hotel way.
Thanks Golden Girl. Midland looks very nice. Visiting Manchester next month
