Afternoon Tea at The Wolsley

Does anyone know the dress code for Afternoon Tea at the Wolsley? I understand that it is a classy, dressy place and that dressy attire would be expected for dinner, but what about Tea around 5:30? We are planning on taking tea at the end of Rick's "West End Walk" and I don't really want to wear dressy attire for the whole walk. Any thoughts?

I don't think The Wolseley has a strict dress code for tea, but why don't you ask them directly via email? I'd probably avoid jeans and tennis shoes, but I've been to many a nice London restaurant in slacks and sandals.

Smart casual, definitely no sportswear.

Most of the people I see coming and going from there look well turned out.

Fairly packed most of the time... too smart a place for me.

The place below is a few minutes walk from The Wolsley, and for me, a much nicer and more relaxed place to have afternoon tea.

You are getting to the tail end of tea time with a 5.30 arrival.

The Wolseley (note that they have two "e"s) stops serving at 5.30 on a Saturday and only an hour later the rest of the week.

Do you have a reservation? It is prudent there as they tend to fill.
