Advice on getting the most out of 1.5 days in Stoke on Trent (and where to stay)

Hello,
I will be visiting my niece at University in Stoke on Trent this early spring. I have always wanted a tour of the area as I am a huge pottery and china collector. I would love to hear your advice, experiences both on where to visit and where to stay. There looks to be some amazing museums and some good shops. Any and all info please and thanks!!! Steph

I assume you have found the Stoke on Trent website and checked out the museums/potteries on it. (Sorry no recent experience, so can't advise on what is worth it...)

I collect Moorcroft pottery, so for me it would be a visit to their museum and a tour of the factory - Moorcroft.com.

Go for whatever you like.

I wish I were able to give you ideas and help, but despite working on trains between Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe, and all parts in between, for many years I never got out of the stations...

I will say that if you go south a short distance from Stoke on Trent station just below the potteries to Stone station on a very steep bend. A very long way down to the platform, easiest to board in the middle of the train, thus middle of the platform. A very scenic station building which is set the way it is because it is actually a junction and there is the canal right there too, and that's the only place it could be shoehorned in.

Before Covid there were plans to reopen the Wedgwood station, next to the factory, for local trains and trains from Crewe to Norwich. I don't know if that ever happened.

that's a very specific request, try the SoT TI and tourism authorities
