Hello! My husband, daughter, and I are looking for a nice (but not ridiculously expensive - as most of them seem to be in the Hyde Park area), hotel for a one night stay upon our arrival in London before we leave the next day for Bath from Paddington Station. We are coming in late June. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks so much for your reply! Our budget won't allow much above $180-200 US. Because we're traveling with a child, we want the hotel to be nice and absolutely in a safe area near the station. Thanks for any suggestions.
Mari,
We've booked a room at the St. David's hotel ( http://www.stdavidshotels.com/ ) for 80/ night for 2 people, which includes a full breakfast. It is on a quiet street a couple of blocks from Paddington station.
The Darlington Hyde Park gets rather decent reviews, and is where my American friends stay when they come for a visit. They say nice things about the hotel and its breakfast.
mari - The Falcon Hotel(www.falcon-hotel.com) is an easy walk from Paddington station. It met our needs quite well.
You can try Hilton London Paddington, connected by footbridge to the station:

Try various things to get the price down. Try using a AAA (Triple A) membership discount when checking the price on the Hilton website. Try Booking or Expedia.

You don't give details, but if you are arriving at Heathrow Airport, you can go directly from Heathrow to Bath by bus (coach). Check this website, National Express Coach:

We did this a couple of years ago and it cost approximately 20 pounds per person. A child's fare would be cheaper.
