Accommodation in York

We are taking the train from London in mid June and by the look of it won't be arriving until very late afternoon/early evening so maybe near the station is a good idea or maybe not. Anyone who has been there would know, maybe trains are an option on arrival.
Anyone any places to stay you can recommend would be very welcome.. Thanks.

There are a lot of pleasant B & Bs near the station. Be sure to visit the Train Museum. The Minster and walk the Wall.

If you aren't looking for something "quaint", I can strongly recommend the Premier Inn Blossom Street, which is a short walk from the station and very comfortable - it's where I always stay in York when I go there for work.

I went to York last December (first time) and stayed at the Premier Inn. I always book Premier Inn now, when they are available - a really good product, gets all the basic stuff right. Stayed at Blossom St, as mentioned above. There seem to be 2 Premier Inns next to each other and its a bit confusing but worked out fine. Walked there from railway station with wheeled suitcase.

Strongly second the visit to the Railway Museum, which I thought was absolutely terrific.

It's funny at Blossom Street, as Katy said, there are two Premier Inns virtually next door to each other with a working mens' club in between. I suspect Premier Inn tried to buy the whole block but the working mens' club refused to sell...

A few years ago we stayed at the Crook Lodge of York, about a 10 minute walk from the train station, I believe. It is a B&B recommended by Rick Steves. We found it convenient and comfortable, and the breakfast was wonderful.

Thanks for your suggestions, will look and see if either is available for our dates.
