A Plug For TimeOut

I've been using TimeOut magazine and now TimeOut Online as a resource for years. Used get off the plane and buy it at Heathrow to read enroute to London. Magazine no longer exists. Now look at it online prior and during my stays.

I even get a weekly news letter. This weeks offered "16 free things to do this summer." Examples:

I encourage travelers to take a gander at TimeOut on line. It's a wonderful resource for first timers and for those of us who return to London because we can never get enough of it....AND it's not just a resource for London. If traveling one of the first online resources I look at. I always find a nugget of inside info that makes my journeys more enjoyable.

Lastly for August visitors please note if you are going to be in London on the weekend of August 27-28 the Nottinghill Carnival is an absolute spectacle! Great eye candy!! https://www.timeout.com/london/things-to-do/notting-hill-carnival-guide I'd take tube to Holland Park early, grab a nosh at Paul's and then follow the masses....

Excellent recommendation Claudia! The good news is that the magazine does physically exist...it's distributed free on Tuesdays in a variety of locations. I frequently run into people handing out TimeOut at major tube stations on Tuesdays, and my local Waitrose in Bayswater has a special stand where you can help yourself.

Also I thoroughly recommend their city guide books. The Time Out London book is a good size for fitting in a pocket or small bag and gives a slightly different & hipper slant on hotels, restaurants and sights than RS. Makes a good additional choice. It's also good at grouping attractions together.

Yup - that's where I go to check on things, new restaurants (I can't afford) and see what's floating around.

The mag isn't but a ghost of itself now. I could never much fold it, now I pick it up on the trains and it fits in my back pocket. The app is OK, the website is fab.

Time Out is also useful for seeking out friendly pubs. It came to life in print form as an alternative to existing guides but any outsider sentiment has faded. I do wish its advance calendar, looking beyond the current month, could be easier to find and use.

Had no clue TimeOut ( although a shell if itself) still existed in magazine form. Thanks for sharing the Tuesday free distro info!

Pleased to know other travelers found the tidbit of information useful. Sharing info and insight is the backbone of the RS Forum!

Carry on!
