A Major Thank You

Our trip to London was successful thanks to all of you on both sides of the pond. My daughter learned a lot, and I hope this inspired her to travel and have confidence in the ability to seek information from a variety of sources.

We used Rick Steve’s audio in V&A, British Museum & Library. One air pod in each ear so we could communicate with each other while listening. The unexpected bonus was the visit to High Clere Castle. Ann loved Downton Abbey. Learning to use the tube (thank you for recommending City Mapper), transferring to the GWR, the $40 15 minute cab from Newbury to HighClere each way (it’s Sunday, and a special weekend event) so worth seeing a grown woman’s face that happy. We walked a lot, laughed a lot, ate not a lot bc we just don’t normally but everything was wonderful. I had my first meat pie! She had her first fish and chips - twice. On the flight home, her screen wouldn’t work on a full flight. The cabin crew member apologized and BA sent her a $50 voucher only to be used on BA. So now she wants to go somewhere with her voucher😳.

I don’t think I’m expert enough to offer advice to travelers. I have one more question. How do restaurants in London manage to prepare food that is delivered to your table hot and have it remain hot while you eat?

Bless you all. Thank goodness we left before the state of affairs in the world. Stay safe. Judy

great trip report and I'm so glad that both of you really enjoyed it.

Did your daughter have vinegar on her fish? On the chips? Were there mushy peas? Do tell.

Judy, I am so glad you and your daughter had so much fun! Nothing better in this world than seeing your kids happy and sharing such joy with them! I wasn’t among those wonderful folks on here who gave you tips, but I share in you
appreciation of them!

Judy! I am so glad things worked out well and that you found CityMapper helpful. That has become my go-to app for big cities. So easy!

Did you get out to Windsor Castle? What did you wind up doing about Kensington Palace? Inquiring minds and all that, hahaha!

I am vegan but honestly the Brits do fish and chips better than anyone. It is delicious!

I hate to disillusion you, but it’s probably because it’s microwaved (especially true of a lot of pub food).
