We ate at the Old Six Bells pub in Horley just short taxi ride from airport. Great historic place with really good food. Fairly close to the town and airport. I may have misunderstood where you will be Gatwick or London??

does the 8 hours include the formalities on arrival and the check in routine for the outward flight, or are they in addition?
Is either flight a long-haul?

Do you want to head into London for lunch, a museum visit, and/or other attractions? I’m guessing that you aren’t interested in simply hanging around Gatwick airport the whole time.
