Thank you for the article. I’ve eaten at three on the list, including the second (Chisuru) just last month. It was just a few blocks down from our B&B. We went for lunch , and as advertised, even though it’s got a Michelin Star, it’s not a fancy restaurant, and not super expensive, for London. We’re going again this summer.

A restaurant not on the list, but also on Great Titchfield St. in Fitzrovia and also outstanding, is Persian restaurant Naroon. It’s popular and has expanded to help meet demand, but making a reservation is wise.

One other restaurant of note, not on this list and it won’t be in the future, is/was Pollen Street Social in Mayfair. I just learned they are closing for good on July 31. In 2020, just before the Pandemic was declared, we had dinner there. A palate-cleansing course was oyster sorbet. It was cold and tasted like the sea. The waiter said half the diners loved it, and half hated it. It was brilliant. Sorry to see the restaurant go, but clearly London has lots more.

Really interesting how many are not in the west end, nothing west of Mayfair.

These suggestions do have a bit of a Conde Nast flavour, quite upscale for the most part. Below Michelin Star level you've got hundreds of restaurants serving good food all over London. Just within a few minutes walk of home, I've got some of the best Turkish places outside of Istanbul or Berlin, a low key neighbourhood Japanese, a great Chinese dumpling place and properly authentic Neapolitan pizza. Just last night I had a burger delivered from a local place, handmade fresh patty, fresh toppings and Monterey Jack cheese. There's tons of options in London even at "non-foodie" level that suits me.
