5 Days In Bath

We're taking a small tour that ends in Bath. Well have an additional week before were heading home. Using Bath as a "home port" how can we have a good visit. Don't want a car, but love trains.
Any suggestions?

Suggest the following day trips:>
1. Train to Cardiff (takes about an hour with trains every hour). Visit Cardiff Castle =http://www.cardiffcastle.com
Also consider taking a bus (32 or 320 from outside the Holiday Inn - which is just west of Cardiff Castle) to St.Fagans Castle & Grounds. Check times of buses as they may be hourly.http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/stfagans/castle-and-gardens/
Also consider visiting Cardiff Bay =http://www.visitwales.com/explore/south-wales/cardiff/must-do-cardiff-bay
Please note that the Severn Tunnel - which goes under the estuary between Wales & England will be closed for electrification works -
especially in September & October 2016. Bath may also be affected:>https://www.gwr.com/travel-updates/planned-engineering

  1. Train to Salisbury and then shuttle bus to Stonehenge.http://www.visitwiltshire.co.uk/salisbury

  2. Bus to Wells & perhaps on to Glastonbury.

  3. Train to Oxford. (It may work out cheaper if you split the ticket at Swindon - even though you stay on same train. 1 change is needed - at Didcot). http://oxfordcityvisitorsguide.com/sightseeing/
Try and avoid the trains during commuting times as they can be crowded. (Fridays are the busiest day).
www.nationalrail.co.uk (pay on the day for trips mentioned should be the same price as advance travel).

I suggest spending a day walking/hiking in the area. One very easy thing is walking along the canal path. But I'm sure you could find directions for a walk more in the countryside. We did a 4-day adventure to/from Bath, and while you might not want to spend that much time, I suggest at least one day walking in the area around Bath. Or walk to a small town near by and take the bus back. It gives you a completely different perspective of the area.
