3 weeks in May

I am taking my mother for her 75 birthday for England for 3 weeks in May. She is not one that can have lots of hotel changes, so we are settling on 3 bases. As of now the bases are Bath (6days), York(5days) and London (10 days). Does anyone have suggestions about a different base? We are looking at staying at the Yard in Bath and The Resident in Victoria but have no plans for York. I would welcome any input on accommodations as well. Thank you in advance!

I know you don't want to change bases but those number of days in each is quite a lot, especially 10 days in London. Of course you could take day trips outside the capital.
You could easily fit in another base, maybe Chester combined with a trip to Llandudno.

Sounds like a wonderful plan and I encourage you to stay with three bases. Sticking with three bases minimizes the stress on relocating. Plus the number of days at each location allows for weather impacts and lessens the need to be “up and about” every day. Enjoy!

I would have said that the periods in Bath and York are a bit long

You could add on some time in London and do day trips from there if she’s mobile enough.

BillS719 - I agree. Bath and York are both amazing, it’s true, but there is SO MUCH more to do in London that it would make sense to take a couple of days from those cities and add them to London.

I do understand that sometimes people can need a longer time between journeys to recuperate, so that could be driving the length of time in each “base.” But if it is possible, I agree that at least a couple more days in London is a good shout.

It would actually give enough time to really bed in and feel like a mini local for a bit, explore smaller places, and relax and stretch out without feeling the need to hustle.
