Hi - am traveling with 2 adults, a 9 yo and a 12 yo the end of August. We staying in the Cotswolds for 3 full days, in Great Tew. We will have a car. Would love recs for less-busy villages to walk around, short walks (under 4 miles), delicious places to eat/pubs, other ideas for what to do! We are easygoing and activities don’t need to be super kid friendly, but I get overwhelmed with crowds. Thanks for any suggestions!
When? What month?
Broadway Tower near Broadway.
Nice hike to Sudley Castle from Winchcombe
Winchcombe isn’t often on tourist’s itineary.
Plaisterers Arms for a pint
The Lion Inn has a dog friendly pub and you can order food.
Thank you! This is great. We are going into 2 weeks from now, so mid August.
We loved Cirencester.
We stayed at the Volunteer Inn in Chipping Campden. They had a great pub there and excellent Indian restaurant.
Have you thought about a trip on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Preserved Steam Railway? This runs between Cheltenham raccecourse and Braodway. There are several intermediate stations where you can get off and explore (many also have railway related activities). From Hayles Station it is a short walk to the ruined Hailes Abbey and the delightful small Hailes Church which has some wonderfuk medieval wall paintings. Here are details of a walk you cdan do from there
