I read that National Rail travelcard holders can enjoy "two for one" discount for major attractions in London. I will be traveling from Heathrow to my hotel at Russell Square. I wonder where I can purchase the National Rail tavelcards? Can I use the National Rail travelcards to take the tube (even though it is not an Oyster card)? Thank you!
you can buy a (paper) travelcard at a national rail station e.g. Euston, St Pancras, Kings Cross, Paddington, Victoria, Charing Cross but not at Heathrow.
The travelcard would give you travel on the tube.
Thank you for your help :)
Lots of answers about two for one offers in London, here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g186338-c195600/London:United-Kingdom:2.4.1.Travelcards.Step.By.Step.html
Hi,
We are doing the same thing for a trip in March. Yes, the travelcards work on the tube and buses (I believe).
It's our second trip to London and we saved a lot of money using these travelcards. We took London Connect to Paddington and bought cards there in 2011. Then hopped right on the tube to our hotel. Easy.
Remember, the card is not an Oyster card (which we never bought) it is a paper card and needs the "crowsfeet" stamp in order to use the two for one vouchers. I just printed off a bunch of the vouchers at home and put them in our guidebook. Free and easier than printing them over in London.
Thank you all for your help :-)
An earlier poster indicated that you cannot buy the Travel Card at the tube stations (correct). One of the places listed was St. Pancras---just wanted to mention that it is perhaps a 15 minute walk from Russell Square to St. Pancras. Flat and safe.
Enjoy your trip!
