Considering taking a week long trip to London in February and desire input from folks who have made a trip to London in February. Desire to learn about interesting experiences enjoyed by travelers during this month. Would especially appreciate guidance on evening activities since daylight goes quickly. We are unconcerned about weather. We will have six full days on the ground.
Thanks!
Depends on what you like doing but look for evening events at museums and galleries; theatre, Thames dinner cruises (may not operate in Feb), evensong at Westminster Abbey, or St. Pauls, concerts - you will be in London in the middle of the concert season - Albert Hall, Royal Fesitval Hall, the Church of St. Martin's in the Fields. Dining out, pubbing. I am sure you will find lots to keep you occupied
There's no special festivals particularly in February, but you'll have the usual options of restaurants, pubs, shows and cinemas.
Chinese New Year. Events spread down from Chinatown to Trafalgar Square.
We loved London walks Jack the Ripper tour which started in the evening and the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London. We got tickets months in advance so not sure if you have time for that. We were there the very end of February several years ago. Also to walk across Tower Bridge and then along the Thames at night was wonderful to see everything lit up, same with Big Ben, it seemed so much more magical at night. Enjoy.
Except for parks and gardens, nothing comes to mind that can't be enjoyed after dark. Many museums have at least one late night, and there are dozens of plays every evening. If that interests you, look at theatremonkey.com for everything you want or need to know.
Wimbledon Stadium does still operate. It is the only greyhound stadium left in Greater London. Public transport access though is rather poor.
