My husband and I are taking 2 weeks in September 9- 23 to visit England and France. I see from your book that London fashion week is Sept 12-16. Should we avoid London at this time or will fashion week have any effect on the average traveler?

Rick Steves doesn't hang out here, but if you had clicked the "Chime In" button a staffer will answer. If not it is just us regular folk.
Other than reading about it in the paper each year I never know that Fashion Week is on, and I travel into London 4 or 5 times a week for work.
As Emma says, it may affect hotels, but if you are all booked up that won't be a concern...

Somerset House is regularly used as a venue, so it may cause problems visiting the art collections and exhibitions there. Other than that, London is a big enough place to absorb the visitors.

Thanks, all. I'd say London's pretty busy year-round. Once your hotel is booked, the question of availability and price will be solved.
