London Tube

We will only be in London for about 48 hours. We have purchased a 48 hour big bus tour pass but is it also worth it to buy an oyster card for that time (especially when we need to get to heathrow the last day)?

I would also say I already purchased an 8 day rail pass as we will be up in Manchester as well

It depends on whether you intend to go anywhere not covered by the Big Bus Tours. The fare to Heathrow will be cheaper on Oyster if you go by the Piccadilly Line tube, but Oyster is not valid on the Heathrow Express or Heathrow Connect trains from Paddington.

The national railway pass will not cover London transport.

Single-ride Tube tickets cost over 4 pounds per person when you pay in cash, or bus about 2.40. A one-day pass saves money if you will take two rides in a day. Buying the paper one-day pass is probably easiest for this short stay, insteadof th Oyster Card, and you can decide again the next day if you need another one. Taxi also can be affordable within the city center, for instance if you exit the theatre at 11 p.m. in the rain.
