12 days of Scotland Tour / Review of Itinerary / Without Car

We are 4 active 60ish adults. Is this a doable schedule? Will be in Dublin 3 days, next morning train to Belfast to see that city and then next day see Giants Causeway, train to Derry for one day, spend the night of 18th, then start the following shedule:
9/19-fly from LondonDerry, UK to Glasgow
9/20-Rabbies 2 night tour Mull/Iona/Tobermory
9/21-Tobermory
9/22-back to Glasgow
9/23-train to Edinburgh
9/24-Holy Isle Lindisfarne, Alnwick, Northumbria day tour
9/25-Rosslyn Chapel, Stirling Castle, Dunferline day tour
9/26-Edinburgh
9/27-train to Inverness
9/28-Glen Afric, Culloden, Clava Cairns day tour
9/29- Isle of Skye day Tour
9/30-train to Glasgow/stay night at airport hotel
10/1-pick up car and start drive to see 10 more days of Ireland.
By the way, we've visited Ireland before and know the hazards of driving on the small roads, etc.!
Also, trying really hard to get by with a regular day pack and overnight case under 30 lbs. for each adult.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for your help.

The Northumberland day will be a very full day, although it's doable. You're lucky in that the tides schedule is very much in your favor that day. Here is the schedule for the tides: https://holyislandcrossingtimes.northumberland.gov.uk/Default.aspx?dt=0924
I would suggest seeing Bamburgh Castle over Alnwick, though. It's much closer to Lindisfarne and was absolutely wonderful! I was not impressed with Alnwick Castle at all (although that is my opinion, of course). :-) You might enjoy seeing Dunstanburgh Castle, which is right on the coast and not that far south of where you are.

ETA: Sorry, i just realized will not have a car in Scotland. You must be doing the Northumberland day tour and Stirling day tour as part of a Rabbies tour. If so, disregard what I said about those two. :-)

I also would highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express located at Glasgow Airport. It was very nice, very comfy and clean and very reasonably priced. You can get a nice dinner there, and their breakfast is quite good as well. If you have to leave really early, the continental breakfast starts at 4 am.

I also think that Stirling and Dunfermline will take up most of a day. You might want to consider bumping Rosslyn Castle to another day. Having said that, there is a lovely park right next to Dunfermline Abbey that is very nice. It was donated by Andrew Carnegie, who was from there, and has some beautiful walks with a lot of history there.

Mardee...thanks for your feedback. The tours are as written, however, based on your suggestion I will contact the companies I have booked with and see if by chance they offer Bamburg as a castle visit instead of Alnwick. I would actually rather do that as my familty has a slight connection to Bamburg. Yes, I looked at the tide schedule for Lindisfarne to see what day would be doable:-)

My biggest issue is actually flying to and from Scotland. Apparently, there is a union dispute going on and some flights aren't able to be booked currently. I'm watching that and hoping it opens up!

Thank you so much.

Which airline has a dispute ongoing? There are plenty of options.

Btw it’s Bamburgh, pronounced “Bambrah”, a bit like Edinburgh is pronounced “Embrah” (at least according to my Edinburgh born and bred friends).

Thanks for the info re: pronunciation! Aerlingus sent me a message when I tried to book a flight from Glasgow to Dublin.
