10 days Oxford/Cotswolds/Bath/London no car

Happy Monday y’all.

Back from Portugal and now have to dive into planning another trip.

Looking at late Aug, early Sept, solo trip. No car. 10 days on ground.

Priorities are Bath and Cotswolds. I have been to London before…20 years ago!

My early plan is day 1 train to Oxford, spend 2 nights. Bus to Blenheim palace.

Train to Moreton in Marsh, spend 2 nights. (Hotels required 2) bus to bourbon on water, bus to Stow on the Wold.

Train to Bath. 3 nights. Mad max day trip to Stonehenge and Castle Combe.

Train to London, 3 nights. Day trip to Windsor Castle (have not seen previously).

Does this look like good use of time? Any better recommendations?

Thanks for any feedback.

You can do all without a car, but doing justice to the Cotswolds without a car can be a pain having to take public transportation.

Are you traveling to Oxford from Heathrow? If so, there is a bus that travels from the airport to Oxford which would be easier than the train.

Go Cotswolds offers a day tour from the Moreton in Marsh which covers a number of towns in the Cotswolds. I thought this was a convenient way to see a number of towns in the Cotswolds. I did this as a day trip from Oxford but it would also work if you were staying in Moreton in Marsh

Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold are easy to do in the same day - they are both on the hourly Bus #801 from Moreton in the Marsh to Cheltenham, 15 minutes apart from each other.

I was wondering this same thing myself because every one says driving and parking in the Cotswolds is a nightmare for Americans just getting their feet wet driving over there and yet I see post after post warning you that it is a disservice to the Cotswolds to NOT rent a car so I will be watching this. I am not looking forward to renting a car and having to deal with learning how to read their road signs and street markings over there. ha!

Good info!

Thanks Laura, yes flying into Heathrow, so will check that bus out!

Maybe instead of moving to Moreton in Marsh, I could do the go Cotswolds tour, which looks like a nice peak into several villages. I just have to decide if I’d rather diy, and have the longer time there using the city bus.

MadMax also has a Cotswold tour. I've done both their Stonehenge/Avebury tour and the Cotswolds tour on different trips. I think both go to Castle Combe but it's a cute village and a short stop so OK to duplicate.

3 nights in Bath just gives you 2 full days. I love Bath and can easily use 2 or 3 full days there but we may travel differently.
