Washington Mayfair

Staying here for 6 nights with a RS tour in Oct. Adding 3 nights on to the beginning. Nice enough to add those on to this hotel or another would be good ( not too far ) for 2? Comments on breakfast are welcome.

Is this:

  • Washington hotel, Mayfair, London
  • Mayfair hotel, Washington, Tyne and Wear (a town from which a certain family came, one of whose members disgraced himself by taking part in a rebellion ).
  • Mayfair hotel, Washington, West Sussex

Hi Marilyn, I stayed at the Washington Mayfair for the RS London Tour in 2015, and found it was outstanding! Spacious comfortable room, wonderful and abundant buffet breakfast (I adored the Cumberland sausages, often grabbing an extra and a roll for lunch or a sizable snack) and a very good location, nice neighborhood just a few minutes from the Green Park tube station. I was actually surprised that an RS Tour would stay in such a quite deluxe hotel.
I will say, though, when making plans to stay just one extra night before the tour, the hotel quoted me a price of US $300, too much for my budget. So I decided to stay in a different lovely hotel in another area (Southbank) at a lower cost, which enabled me to get to know a part of London not included in the Tour at all.

We are taking the same tour next summer. We were quoted 210 pounds including breakfast. Was worth it for us not to have to switch hotels. The pound has sunk quite a bit since 2015, which may explain the rate compared to the prior poster.

Yes, I remember that in 2015 I was quoted £198 and a pound cost just about $1.50, somewhat more than today, when it is about $1.24. Can't remember if my quote included breakfast (for one) or not. I'll add that I had a great night at the lovely Mondrian London on the Southbank, with early check-in, late check-out, and a spacious and deluxe high room with a view overlooking the illuminated London Eye in the distance. Did lots on the Southbank for a day plus, then I moved to the wonderful Washington Mayfair. All in all, an exciting welcome to London!
