Stayed in The Rookeryhotel for 3 nights last weekend, for the second time in a couple of years. It was wonderful and I thought I’d share a short review here.
The hotel is part of a small chain that also includes Hazzlit’s in Soho and Batty Langley’s in Spitalfields.
It’s a conversion of 3 Georgian Townhouses which retains many period features. It’s an oasis of calm, just a few moments walk from Farringdon tube station which is on the Elizabeth Line to Heathrow. It has a direct rail link to Gatwick. It’s one stop from Tottenham Court Rd and two stops to Bond Street on the Elizabeth Line so easy to get to the West End and also to Paddington station. Farringdon is also on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines, so well connected. There were plenty of good eateries in the area, including a Levantine restaurant called CERU next door which was good, lots of small cafes and a Michelin starred restaurant called St Bart’s a short walk away (very good!). We were there to attend an event at the Barbican (home of the London Symphony orchestra) which is less then 10 minutes walk away. We also visited the medieval Charterhouse, previously a Carthusian monastery and now a complex of Almshouses and a chapel with small museum.
The hotel is peaceful with 3 pleasant sitting rooms, two of which have honesty bars, so you pour yourself a drink, note down what you had and it’s added to your bill. Drinks are reasonably priced. There was free cake too. Rooms have mini bars, also not extortionate. You can have a complimentary tray of tea and coffee making equipment delivered to your room. Breakfast is either delivered to your room or you can have it in one of the lounges. The rooms are all unique. Ours had a copper lined shower and a loo like a throne! Rooms are decorated with antiques and very good mattresses ensure a good night sleep.
There was both AC and opening windows. Only drawback is the lack of a lift, so you might not want a room on the top floor. But they will carry your bags for you. Staff are great and so helpful.
We paid £270 per night in March 2026 which I think is excellent considering how wonderful this place is.
