We stayed at The Mount Guest House in Ludlow (61 Gravel Hill) for 2 nights in May 2017. It was fabulous. Our host, Ray, couldn't do enough for us. The room had everything we needed, a beautiful view, and was very clean. The breakfasts were delicious and we would definitely stay there again.
Because Rick doesn't cover Ludlow in his England guidebook, we used the Ludlow town website to find this B&B, which is on the hill above the train station. The other B&Bs seem to be in town on a busier road. This one is very quiet and in a residential neighborhood.
Ludlow is wonderful and very walkable. A true Back Door!
We didn't have a car but we did have a friend drive us to nearby Stokesay Castle. Everything else you can do by train or walking.
