Review of Bull's Head Pub/Hotel in Castleton, The Peak District

This was a perfect fit for me. First, the village of Castleton is extremely picturesque. The Bull's Head Pub sits on the edge of it, with a beautiful view of Winnats Pass. There was a good-sized car park in the back, and the staff was very friendly. My room was really lovely with old-fashioned floral wallpaper, vintage looking light fixtures, a very comfortable bed, and a gorgeous view from the window. There was also a mini fridge, a heated towel rack, and a heated radiator (very nice for doing laundry). Breakfast was unusual in that you had the option of ordering a continental breakfast the day before, and it was brought to your room that evening. Or you could have breakfast at the cafe next door (owned by the pub) when it opened at 9 am the next morning. And of course, you could have lunch or dinner in the pub. The food was good with a pretty large and varied menu. I paid £450 for 5 nights.

The scenery around here was absolutely breathtaking. It was so lush and yet very rugged. And as small as Castleton was, there was a decent selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs and hotels. It was a very good base for The Peak as most places were fairly close to Castleton. I would definitely stay here again.
