I can’t eat spicy food so that rules out most good Indian and Chinese restaurants. I was thinking of a good pub and a nice restaurant like the ivy

Lord John Russell pub 10 minute walk from the station. Or spend $$$’s in the gorgeous Booking Office which is inside St Pancras. Enjoyed a cocktail there when it first opened. Lovely memory.

St Pancras New Church is actually the one with the grand portico straight outside Euston Station, but this wikipedia page tells you about the Old Church, and how large the parish was- which explains why the New Church is at Euston.- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Pancras_Old_Church
Taking a wander around Somers Town is a nice idea for anyone staying in the Kings Cross St Pancras area.

I've never got into the Old Church, but have been into the interesting New Church- any time I am passing Euston and it is open I pop in there.

when you mention The Ivy you are well above my budget and fanciness level. Sorry I can't help.

The cocktails may be nice but the food is mediocre. Unfortunately Marcus Wareing's restaurant The Gilbert Scott closed down during the pandemic. It was inside the Renaissance and served excellent food but sadly is no more. It has however been replaced by The Midland Grand Dining Room, serving traditional French cuisine it has received very good reviews. The location is superb and ideal for you whilst the decor and interior provides an additional wow factor. I haven't been yet but as the Renaissance is a hotel I often stay at I'll be eating there at some point.

Outside of the hotel there isn't much to offer other than bland chain restaurants, probably because the rents are so high.

I used to like Plum and Spilt Milk in the hotel at neighbouring Kings Cross, but I noticed it’s changed its name to Rails. I don’t know if it’s the same place or new owners.

There’s the German Gymnasium, a lovely building between St Pancras and Kings Cross, which does hearty German food.

Just north is Granary Square, which has a branch of Dishoom, an upscale tapas place called Barrafina, and Caravan, which has an interesting all-day menu. I’ve looked at it a few times and it looks nice but I’ve never eaten there.

Has anybody been into the German Gymnasium? Passed it the other day, prices are high, love German food. Worth it?

A block or so away on Euston Rd is ONeils pub. Has Irish inspired food . They also do a full Irish breakfast

Pizza Union is a pretty popular place near there. As far as pubs, The Skinners Arms has great ale, nice interior and pretty decent food and is worth a trip.

I have eaten a couple of times at the Euston Flyer, usual pub offerings and a really good breakfast bap (egg, cheese and bacon on a bun) and coffee drinks are available, too. I found it last year after leaving St Pancras and walking to the British Library and visited again in September.

I’ve never been but I’ve looked at it quite a few times with interest, hence mentioning it above.

I’ve now moved so St Pancras is no longer “my” London station so probably won’t get to try it anytime soon.

I too can not eat spicy food because of acute acid reflux. I have eaten in many Chinese restaurants, both in the US and China, and their food in normally not spicy except for that from Schezwan Province. I do not know about England, but in the US in Indian restaurants you can ask for "mild spice" and the food is still very good.
