My wife and I will be spending 4-5 nights in this area as we visit (her) friends. Any suggestions as to where to stay? I already searched the forum.

You might try 30 King Henrys Road https://www.sawdays.co.uk/britain/england/london/30-king-henry-s-road/ in Primrose Hill near the Chalk Farm tube station and buses. Only a few rooms in this bed and breakfast but lovely and fun.
