Hello.....my husband and I are going to Highclere Castle in Sept. and will need to stay a night in Newbury. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good hotel or B&B? We are not looking for anything terribly expensive!

We are also going to Highclere Castle in September. I made reservations at the Bunk Inn. It looks like good reviews on Trip Advisor. But if anyone has a better suggestion, we would also like to know! Our tickets are for September 3rd! So excited!

The Hare and Hounds on Bath Road is very good. We stayed there 5 nights and would do so again.
The property is a restored coach inn from the 18th century with a nice restaurant built in converted barn. Breakfasts are good and offer a wide range of food choices.
We found it very convenient for driving to Stonehenge and Avebury as well as other places out in the country. We took the train into London from Newbury for a day's sightseeing. The Hare and Hounds management was very helpful in organizing a taxi for us. All the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable.
