We will be spending three days in London and would like to find a convenient hotel near a tube station. I was in London many years ago and remember how easy it is to get around using the tube. We are cost conscious but want something safe and nice not necessarily luxurious. We are a family of six ranging from 21 to 55. Two will stay one night-four will be there for all three nights. I appreciate any and all suggestions!
What does moderate mean to you?
Look at the Premier Inns. They are all over London and, IMO, a very good value.
I've had luck with hotels near the Pimlico Tube station. Mostly smaller, family-run places near neighborhood restaurants, a laundry and cyber cafe. It's still near Victoria Station for easy train travel as well. We've stayed at the Blades and Melita House. Both were clean with breakfast and helpful staff. I found utilizing Pimlico Tube station an easy option.
Ibis and Ibis Styles are also moderately-priced hotel chains, typically rather IKEA-like but generally clean and well-kept.
We have used the Best Western at Victoria Station for our last two visits. The annex is a little cheaper and across the road but very nice. Obviously only a couple of blocks from Victoria Station and Tube. Has some great local restaurants in the area.
Ditto Frank. Our room was small/tight/laughable, but clean & fine, & the location was great. Loved the neighborhood - ethnic mom&pop restaurants, pubs, small supermkts, a mostly fresh produce street market, even good charity shops. It's the Best Western Victoria Palace ("palace" is pretty funny), in Rick's London 2017 bk.
Thanks to all of you!
Another vote for Ibis. Try some of the hotel web sites (e.g., Travelocity) as well as the hotel chain's site. Sometimes there are deals offered that beat the hotel's rates.
