London Hotel recomendation for a family of 5

We have schedule a 14 day best of Europe trip scheudled to end in Paris but we will take a few extra days at the end of our trip and we will take the train from Paris to London. We plan to be in London in late July for 4 nights and are looking for an affordiable hotel that can accomidate 5 people in one room.

I was wondering if anyone has any recomendations. The best that we can find at this time is the Fielding as it can accomidate my family but is still more then I would like to spend.

If anyone does have any recomendations, along with an area that is safe and not necessarly next to the major attractions but has available transportation, that would be appripiated.

Have you checked booking.com? We have traveled quite a bit throughout europe and it is difficult to find a room large enough for 5 people.Maybe an AirBnB for an apartment. Enjoy! My husband and I were in London for 4 days thew middle of December and there is so much to do. One day we trained to Bletchley Park to visit the site of the cryptographers who broke the Enigma Code and other intelligence work. Very interesting. Another day we day tripped to Greenwich. Also very good.

Five people in one room will be a challenge to find. Three and two people in two rooms perhaps. Or an AidBnB?

what ages are the people? I am assuming two adults and three children????? if so, how old are the children?

I stayed at a small bed & breakfast on Bayswater Road across from Kensington Gardens. Location was great and very close to a lot of public transportation.

Name of hotel was Hotel 63. Yup, just Hotel 63. However I do not believe they have any room big enough for five. You would probably have to book two rooms.

Someone suggested booking.com and I second booking. You can do research on booking and then go to the lodging and book directly or book through booking. They now offer much more than just hotel rooms.

What is your price range? London is very expensive, especially for this summer. But I did check Marlin apartments (serviced apartments in a hotel-like building with reception desk, etc.). Their Queen Street location has a 2-bedroom apartment which will accommodate 5 people for £524 GBP a night in late July, if you join their member program (free to join).

The location is excellent—-right near St. Paul’s on a quiet side street, with good Tube and bus connections. And having a kitchen to prepare meals will save you a lot of £££ you would otherwise spend on restaurants.

Thank you all for your replies. It is very helpful.

The age of our children is 2 of them (Twins, Boy/Girl) will be 13 at that time and a 16 year old. It is difficult to do parties of 5 in hotels and we often get a larger room but Europe does not make this as easy as we normally find. We typically do not want to split up mainly due to costs but also convience and just the fact that we like to keep tabs on our kids to ensure that they stay safe. It is getting easier the older they get though. Most of time in the States we just sneek in the kids and opt for a 4 bedroom and just make them sleep on the floor. For this one though we want to do this right.

I will look at booking 2 seperate rooms and also the Fielding Hotel still has an flat rental that does appear to be the best option for one room.

Thank you,

Won't you already have been in 2 rooms on the Best of Europe tour?
BTW, I think I've seen adjoining rooms on occasion in Europe--that might be your best bet, and 2 bathrooms would be helpful.

If you look at the larger US chains, many of their rooms will be bigger and some may have connecting rooms. They should also have one bedroom suites (parents in bedroom, kids in living room.) or even two bedroom suites.

Go to Booking.com. Fill in the city, dates, number of people (2 adults/3 kids and you will be asked their ages), and how many rooms. You should get the results. I did a dummy booking, not knowing your exact dates and got some good results.)

But book direct with the hotel.

That 1-bdr flat at the Fielding Hotel looks like a good choice. It is less money (and smaller) than the 2-bedroom Marlin apartment, but it will sleep you all comfortably. And the location in Covent Garden is really good. I wouldn’t wait too long to book it, as things are filling up for summer.

Chains like the Hilton do interconnecting rooms but it’ll be expensive. A serviced apartment sounds like a better option.

If you're booking two rooms, you might want to check the Premier Inn chain. They have family rooms that will sleep 3 at many of their locations. Their big advantage is that they are very reasonably priced, clean and comfortable and in a number of excellent locations. Many people on this forum wind up staying at them for the reasons above. I am staying on the Premier Inn County Hall (in South Bank) when I head to London in late March, and found rooms for as low as £120 a night. Obviously that will vary, but you should be able to find decent rooms (and look for the family rooms). https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/home.html

Have you checked out The Cherry Court hotel? It’s about 2 or 3 blocks from Victoria rail station. Rooms are VERY small but they do have a family room that we used several years ago. Room had 4 beds and very small bathroom with shower. I think we paid about $130 US but this was 5 years ago.

We have decided to go with 2 rooms at the Premier Hotel by the London Eye. It is a great location, has good reviews, and we were able to get 2 rooms and breakfast much cheaper than anything else for that cost. Yes it is not the family type hotel and more of a chain but we spend very little time in the room anyways.

We were trying to get the 1 room but Europe has much smaller rooms when comparing it to where we normally stay in the States.

Also in case anyone had questions, we are doing the 14 day best of Europe which starts in Rome and ends in Paris. We booked 2 Rooms for the tour as it is difficult to travel with a family of 5 but we will make it work. We are taking it upon ourselves to travel from Paris to London for the last few days of our trip as this is what we were missing.

Looking forward to this and I will make sure to leave reviews once we are done.

Thanks everyone.

..... Most of time in the States we just sneak in the kids and opt for a 4 bedroom and just make them sleep on the floor. ..... Unfortunately, that is a big NO, NO in Europe since pricing is almost always per person including kids. We often found adjoining rooms or two rooms at the end of a hall way. Tell them you have five and see what the hotel suggests.
