Just wondering if anyone has been to the Churchill Arms in Kensington and what you thought of the atmosphere and food.
Also, is the area nice for evening strolling?
Thanks!
Any particular streets for a nice evening stroll in that area? How is walking in Hyde Park after dark?
That whole area is fine. You shouldn’t have any trouble. I haven’t been to any section of London that I felt uncomfortable in. Now granted, I mostly walk in more touristed areas, but even when I go outside this, I feet safe, including when I was walking at night.
I live in LA and compare the Kensington neighborhood to Beverly Hills … just look at the vehicles parked on driveways and the street.
Haven’t been to the Churchill Arms in decades. Far too touristy for my liking.
Kensington High Street is fine for walking. Busy.
Hyde Park is well lit after dark. Lots of dog walkers and runners. If I’m staying at 63 Bayswater I’ll walk through it. Never a worry.
In the summer they decorate the outside with a few flowers
Yes, we ate at the Churchill Arms twice. We were staying down the street for a week.
The food was very good and we were impressed by a pub serving that level of food. Fun atmosphere.
The neighborhood is upscale and safe for walking at night.
Thanks for sharing this! I visited the Churchill Arms on my last trip to London and absolutely loved the atmosphere – the flowers, the history, and the Thai food in the back were such a unique combo!
For anyone planning to visit and looking for nearby accommodation, I stayed at www.mowbraycourt.com in Kensington, which was super convenient – just a quick tube ride or pleasant walk from the pub. It’s a great option if you’re looking for budget-friendly hotels in Kensington with easy access to all the local gems like this one!
Cheers to more hidden gems in London!
