Lodging in Hammersmith

My husband and I will be traveling to London for 5 days in Oct. We're interested in lodging (B&B, Airbnb, hotels). Hammersmith looks like a nice option.

This October?

Hammersmith is a neighborhood. What made you chose it?

Will this be your first trip to London?

What will be your accommodation budget?

Asking questions to get a better perspective in order to offer intel. London is a favorite destination. Being visiting for decades.

I actually have stayed in Hammersmith some 3 or 4 times for a week, went there for work, to a conference at the Novatel there.

I did not stay at the Novatel, did stay at the Holiday Inn Express, and at the Adria B&B a couple times. Both I found just fine for my purposes. There are a number of other places as well, including a Premier Inn.

Hammersmith does offer good transportation, the Piccadilly and District lines are at the main station, and the Circle and Hammersmith lines across the street. Hammersmith is also a major bus hub, buses are well worth a try for the sightseeing.

Aside from that, I can recommend the Hammersmith Ram and the Stonemasons Arms pubs, most of the popular coffee shops are there, a Nandos, a Wakamama, decent local shopping.

The walk along the Thames from Hammersmith Bridge (neat bridge) up river is nice, a couple riverside pubs, and a bit more would be the Fullers Brewery.

Overall, I found it to be a very pleasant place to stay

If this is your first trip to London, it is a little further out than most areas. But a nice area.

May I suggest you also look into Earls Court and South Kensington. A couple or three tube stops closer in to London.

Claudia~ yes, we are traveling this October. I chose Hammersmith based on previous posts. Staying near the Thames sounds good. I will be visiting King's College London Denmark Hill and St. Christopher's hospice in addition to the more leisurely places around London.

Both of those locations are far from Hammersmith.

For example Kings College Denmark Hill is easily 45 mintues away.

Would love to be able to provide a comfortable accommodation for your visit.
