Indigo Hotel Bath - Excellent

Just back from a short stay at the Indigo Hotel in Bath. It is really excellent. We paid £140 for B&B in January 2025.

Plus points
- It is a very short, level walk from the railway station.
- The rooms are well appointed, with bathrobes, slippers, free soft drinks in fridge, tea & coffee including nespresso machine, biscuits.
- Bed was very comfortable
- It was very quiet.
- Staff are exceptionally friendly and professional.
- Breakfast is cooked to order, with a buffet of continental selections (muffins, flapjacks, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, bread, juices, etc). It was delicious.

Negative point
- A small quibble but the toilet was positioned very close to the shower which meant the seat was offset slightly. A very, very minor point, which might have been because our bathroom was quite small and our room in the attic/roof space. Other larger rooms would probably have bigger bathrooms. Anyhow, it was fine!

good to hear. We liked their York but parking was a bit of a faff.

Curious about the brekkie - were the orders taken and delivered promptly? My bugbear is when an order is taken and I could have walked to the nearest town and back before delivery. I mean, how long can a cheese and mushroom omelette take to whip up (Crowne Plaza Henley looking at you)

Nigel,
Yes brekkie was delivered before I’d managed to go and fetch some juice. Full cooked for hubby and a bacon sarnie in a brioche bun for me. All top quality ingredients too. None of your Premier Inn style stuff here.

There’s no car park, but there are two pay & displays close by. We chose it because it was near the station. Less than a 5 minute walk.

It's been years since I've been to Bath but it's been on my radar for my next UK trip, so thanks for the review! The breakfast is making my mouth water!

It featured heavily in an episode of Macdonald and Dodds where a group of women go for a weekend away. I really like the design features and have it earmarked for a future stay.

I do very much like the Indigo hotels - I can use my IHG points but they also have a bit of an individual feel.

How did I miss that series? Just looked it up and looks worth a watch. I have relatives in Bath and spent a lot of time there as a child, so probably lots of places I'd recognise.

It’s a fun series. Beautifully filmed, lots of big name guest stars. It’s your classic socially-awkward, puzzle-solving cop who is overlooked by everyone. Classic ITV Sunday night stuff. But there’s only about 12 episodes in total and it’s just been cancelled. Somehow it didn’t quite make it. Definitely worth watching, though. Bath looks amazing in it.

Thanks for this review Jacqui !! And all this talk is really making me want to head back there - have only been for a day trip once several years ago.

Even better! I didn't realize it was an IHG hotel. And I just heard that about Macdonald and Dodds. Sorry that it will not return. I enjoyed the show a lot.

Thanks for the hotel recommendation. How many days do you recommend for Bath?

I was visiting relatives there and attending a funeral, so not in a tourist capacity. However, I’d say a couple of days would be plenty. Interesting Georgian architecture, the Roman Baths, costume museum, Jane Austen museum etc. Also Bath Abbey is worth a visit.
