We will be staying in Chester around May 8-11. Will take the train there. Would like to stay in a good, moderately priced hotel.
Thanks

For Chester, I had booked the Chester Grosvenor, but I changed us to the Coach Inn Hotel a few months before our trip to reduce the cost since I was spending more on some of our other hotels. The Coach Inn has a nice location! It’s very close to the cathedral, the courthouse, and the Market is located behind it for easy parking. The room was basic but very large with a dresser, table & two chairs and a desk.
The restaurant/pub at our small hotel was very popular, but we were able to get a table at Stile Napoletano which I had researched ahead of time for fantastic pizza and tiramisu!
Stayed at the Chester Grovesnor in 2019. Nice, clean, good location but nothing special. Food in the restaurant was average and decor was polished brass and glass - I.e. cold. Our room had a floor that was so sagging my wife almost had a bout of labrynthitis. I wouldn’t over-pay for it.
Prices seem to be high in Chester for those dates as it happens to be Chester Races- the most important meeting in their Calendar ending with the 200th anniversary of the Chester cup being run.
Maybe of course that is why you are going.
If so you are too probably late to the party to get decently priced hotels
Thanks for the information. Booked at the Townhouse Chester. I tried the hotel web site, it was more than Booking.com. Sent an e mail and have not heard back.
Since Chester is a short train ride from Liverpool, would like a suggestion for a tour in Liverpool. (maybe Beatles tour!)
