Harrogate help!

Hello! Family of four, two sons 12 & 14, coming to Harrogate for a few days in April 2025. Fell down the rabbit hole of reviews and now I can't figure out where to stay! Everything is either sold out or meh with the reviews.
Any recommendations would be fantastic. (We are not driving to parking is not a consideration.) Ideally no more than a 15-minute walk to the city centre (looked at Astor which is about 12-minute walk). thanks so much!

Do you mean Ascot House Hotel? ( I could not find anything with 'Astor' in the name)

Yes sorry! That's what I meant. I was looking at Arden, West Park (but prob too far), Ascot, and the Grafton

Try Ripon. There is a bus #36 that runs every 10 minutes to Harrogate.

I stayed at The Old Swan in May 2023 for a Seymour Travels tour. We stayed 3 or 4 nights and then I'd added time on ahead of the tour for 2 nights. The room I booked for myself was very small and over the dishroom of the restaurant so it was noisy until 10P and started again in the AM. The room I had with the tour was excellent, faced the front and was huge. Both were clean and the staff was very nice. I looked at the TA reviews and a number of them are for the restaurant or the afternoon tea service.

There is an Agatha Christie connection.

I walked from the train station and it was very easy. It's also fairly central so easy to access downtown (yum to Betty's TeaRoom afternoon tea!!), the gardens and the walking tour. I also visited the Royal Hall which is not always open but was one afternoon when I was there. I did a guided tour. I doubt it would be of interest to your kiddos, though! The small Royal Pump Room Museum was interesting and your kids might enjoy that.
