Good restaurant in York Shambles area

There is a group of family and friends coming to York for a wedding in June. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant or pub in the Shambles area? Nothing fancy, just reasonably priced and good food.

Also maybe a good restaurant/pub in the city center.

I rarely post comments relative to food , but a head's up here - There is a place in York ( two locations ) called " York Hog Roast " Avoid it like the plague . The food looks great , and probably is , but as my wife and I were considering eating there , we watched the help handling the food ( hand carved roasts ) and cash without any attempt to wash in between . We thought this might be an unfortunate anomaly , but when we looked at the second location , the practice was repeated there , as well . Gastroenteritis is unpleasant , at best , but on a trip when getting food poisoning is positively awful , and a food establishment hangs out a flag , it is best avoided . http://www.theyorkroastco.com/

I'd recommend the House of the Trembling Madness @ 48 Stonegate. Beer store downstairs and unique pub/restaurant upstairs. Food was good when we ate there 3 years ago, and recently, my cousin who has lived in York for 6 years, recommended it again.

A nice outdoor location is the Lamb & Lion - back garden. It's near the Minster and below the city wall. Comfortable and lovely location.
